The Chief Medical & Transformation Officer (CMTO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and will work closely with the other members of the executive team to guide and oversee the organization’s strategic plan, immediate and future goals, and operational objectives. Additionally, the CMTO will serve as a non-voting, ex-officio member of the MaineHealth Board of Directors.
The CMTO’s ultimate objective will be to lead and inspire the clinical leadership team to develop programs, processes, and initiatives to provide compassionate, comprehensive, high-quality, evidenced-based care, and service excellence. This leader will assure the highest standards of healthcare delivery and outcomes, ensuring a constant patient focus.
The CMTO will serve as a guiding force behind culture and identity and will also foster a sense of team that promotes exceptional service, creative problem solving, and collaboration. This executive will drive greater performance and leverage systems thinking and creativity to continuously improve clinical design, structure and quality. By maintaining a visible presence within MaineHealth, including regular rounding, the CMTO will work to build, develop, and manage a clinical leadership team that can execute on operational strategies, and maintain and nurture a highly competent, motivated, and productive staff.
Specifically, this individual will collaborate with the MaineHealth Chief Nursing Officer and MaineHealth Medical Group President to advance system strategies, clinical practice and patient-centered care initiatives. The CMTO will foster clinical integration and transformation across the continuum of patient care services provided by the health system, including the identification, creation and oversight of new structures of care, partnerships and collaborations that continue to position MaineHealth as a nimble, contemporary health system in a rapidly changing landscape.
Direct Reports to the Chief Medical & Transformation Officer include the Chief Academics and Research Officer, the Chief Quality and Safety Officer, the Regional Chief Medical Officers, the Vice President of Pharmacy, the Clinical System Service Line Leaders, and the Senior Medical Director of Clinical Innovations. In addition, the MaineHealth Medical Group Chief Medical Officer will be a matrix direct report of the CMTO.
