Korn Ferry is proud to partner with the University of Maryland Medical Center to lead the search efforts for their next Director of Radiology. This role oversees all radiology services across two important hospitals, their 800-bed academic medical center as well as a +150-bed community hospital.

The Director of Radiology oversees the daily clinical operations of the department to ensure safe, high-quality imaging services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coaching clinical managers and supervisors, and managing staffing levels, schedules, and workflow for both patients and staff.
  • Ensuring equipment is functioning and available, and that space and resources are used efficiently.
  • Maintaining excellent customer service, safety, and radiation-safety practices, and ensuring staff certifications remain current.
  • Managing multiple cost centers, monitoring productivity, and maintaining quality standards.

The Director carries out these duties in full compliance with hospital and departmental policies as well as local, state, federal, The Joint Commission, and ACR requirements, and serves as Radiology Administrator when that leader is absent.

Experience and Professional Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. CPR certification is appreciated.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or health sciences is required. Equivalent experience could be considered if validated by Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) certification. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Eight years progressively responsible experience within a radiology department in addition five years at a supervisory or leadership position is required.
  • Experience with organizational and leadership skills, ability to provide leadership in a matrixed work environment, problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of working with budgets, financial management and provider billing.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient knowledge of medical imaging, related terminology and technical knowledge within the area of specialty (e.g. CT, MRI) is required. Knowledge of various types of radiology equipment, particularly those of the area of specialty, where applicable, is required.
  • Proficient organization and problem-solving skills are required to develop/implement efficient work processes, and to successfully resolve difficult, conflict-oriented situations for the common good.
  • Proficient guest relations skills are required in order to positively and effectively present a good image of the organization and the Radiology department to its customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach and motivate the performance of subordinate administrative, clinical, and professional employees.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit/area/department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to learn and use computer systems to manage patient information.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills are required in order to work with medical and nursing staff to resolve any departmental concerns and to supervise/manage staff.

The target compensation range is $60.76 - $97.01 per hour and will be commensurate with experience and skillset. Competitive benefits package is available.
