Our Mission:
CAMERA, the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis, is the leading organization exposing and countering anti-Israel narratives in the media, online, and in schools.   

Founded in 1982 to monitor bias in print and network media, CAMERA has since broadened its expertise to confront misinformation directed at Israel and its supporters, wherever it exists.  CAMERA corrects falsehoods and distortions in the legacy media, expose disinformation on social media and other digital platforms, tackle antisemitism in K-12 education, support pro-Israel students on college campuses, and challenge  anti-Israel campaigns targeting Evangelical Christian churches and communities.    

With offices in Boston, Massachusetts and Jerusalem, Israel, and staff working virtually across the United States and United Kingdom, CAMERA operates at the forefront of the information battlefield to expose bias and promote truth, in turn strengthening support for Israel worldwide. CAMERA’s mission and work have never been more important.  

Our challenge, the scope of the problem:
Inaccurate and distorted accounts of events in Israel and the Middle East are found everywhere — online, on campus, in the press, and in the pews. Sources of bias have expanded from television and newspapers to fashion magazines, architectural publications, encyclopedias, textbooks, and travel guides. Social media and podcasts now spread misinformation with unparalleled reach and speed. These inaccurate and skewed characterizations of Israel and of events in the Middle East fuel anti-Israel and anti-Jewish prejudice, putting Jewish life and lives at risk.

How CAMERA works:
CAMERA systematically monitors, fact checks, and critiques Middle East coverage and commentary. Staffers directly contact reporters, editors, producers and publishers about distorted and inaccurate coverage, offering factual information to refute errors. CAMERA supporters are encouraged to write letters for publication in the print media and to communicate with correspondents, anchors and network officials in the electronic media. CAMERA’s combination of rigorous monitoring, research, fact checking, careful analysis, and grassroots efforts have had a documented impact.

How the public is kept informed:
 Supporters receive periodic mailings, magazines and monographs detailing key media issues.
 Supporters of CAMERA’s e-mail team receive frequent Action Alerts and information.

CAMERA on Campus
Increasingly, campuses have been the scene of propagandistic assaults on Israel. Distorted literature, extreme speakers and false, inflammatory images are all too common, creating harmful misperceptions of Israel. This hostile environment can be intimidating to students seeking fair and objective information on Middle East issues.

CAMERA’s campus website, Camera on Campus, and its affiliated blog, give students access to specialized information useful in countering misinformation. CAMERA also provides one-on-one assistance to students who encounter Middle East distortions in campus publications, flyers, rallies and classroom teaching.

K-12 Education
Anti-Israel activists have increasingly turned to K-12 schools to target students with slanted accounts of the Middle East. CAMERA is confronting the problem with its K-12 work. 

International monitoring
CAMERA engages with the media internationally through its international-facing programs: CAMERA UK, CAMERA Español, CAMERA Arabic, and CAMERA Hebrew.

Partnership of Christians and Jews
CAMERA’s Partnership of Christians & Jews is a powerful response to the intensifying effort to delegitimize Israel in Evangelical churches throughout North America and Europe, and to the media’s shameful silence about the alarming rise of Jew-hatred worldwide.

Position Summary
The next Chief Executive Officer will lead one of the largest and most respected media-monitoring organizations in the United States with an annual budget of $9 million and a staff of approximately 64 in three offices on three continents, Boston, London, and Jerusalem and will be based in Boston.

The Chief Executive Officer of CAMERA reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and execution of the organization’s strategic vision. This highly visible role requires an inspirational and mission-driven leader who brings a deep passion for CAMERA’s work and can powerfully articulate its purpose to diverse audiences. The CEO will lead at a pivotal moment in a rapidly evolving 24/7 digital information landscape and must be both strategically forward-looking and digitally savvy, able to leverage social media and emerging platforms to expand CAMERA’s reach, shape narratives in real time, and significantly broaden the organization’s impact.

Key Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer will be a strong partner to the Board of Directors, and lead the strategic planning process, aligning stakeholders around clear priorities and measurable goals, and then driving with disciplined execution to accelerate the CAMERA’s mission and leverage the organization’s unique positioning to scale powerful impact in ensuring accurate and balanced coverage of Israel and the Middle East in the international media in a rapidly evolving information landscape.

The Chief Executive Officer will:
• Elevate CAMERA’s brand as a leading, authoritative voice by inspiring audiences, strengthening visibility, and advancing a compelling, mission driven narrative.
• Lead the development and the execution of CAMERA’s strategic plan, including monitoring the media and expanded campus initiatives to provide accurate information regarding Israel.
• Direct the evolution of CAMERA’s digital strategy, ensuring the organization is highly effective across social media and emerging platforms to influence public discourse in real time 
• Ensure the organization has the tools, talent, and mindset to respond rapidly and effectively to misinformation across digital channels 
• Serve as the primary spokesperson and public face of CAMERA, representing the organization before media, donors, policymakers, government officials, and the public
• Oversee all organization operations, staff, and programmatic functions
• Recruit, retain, lead and inspire a talented global staff
• Strengthen relationships with friends, donors, foundations, supporters, and the broader Jewish and pro-Israel communities
• Lead and grow CAMERA’s major donor relationships and oversee fundraising strategy to attract new donors
• Work in partnership with the Board on governance, planning, and fiduciary matters
• Manage and grow CAMERA’s financial resources, including its endowment

The Candidate

This leader will combine mission conviction with digital fluency, understanding how to effectively harness social media and modern communications platforms as essential tools for influence, growth, and impact.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader who combines intellectual rigor, moral clarity, and organization skill, and who is deeply committed to CAMERA’s mission of promoting accurate and responsible journalism about Israel and the Middle East.

Professional Experience, Qualifications & Competencies
• Demonstrated executive leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit, advocacy, media, or policy organization raising the organizational profile and impact
• Deep familiarity and commitment to CAMERA’s mission and knowledge of Israel and how they are portrayed in the media is strongly preferred
• Proven track record of fundraising and major donor development experience preferred 
• Exhibited digital fluency, including experience leveraging social media platforms and digital communications to expand organizational reach and influence 
• Track record of using modern media tools to shape narratives, engage audiences, and drive measurable impact in a fast-moving information environment
• Strong public communications skills, including experience engaging with media and public audiences
• Experience in partnering with boards and navigating complex governance environments
• Financial acumen and experience in managing substantial organizational budgets
• Ability to serve as a visible and credible external ambassador who can elevate organizational visibility, strengthen partnerships, and generate enthusiasm for the mission and impact of CAMERA
• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire and retain talented staff 
• Preference for Boston-based CEO
