The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) is a Commonwealth Government financier, providing financial support to advance the development of infrastructure projects in northern Australia. NAIF helps grow economies and populations and encourage private sector investment across a range of sectors including resources, agriculture and water, energy, financing partnerships, social infrastructure, and transport and logistics. NAIF supports projects that deliver public benefit to the north, through new jobs, regional income, business for local suppliers and Indigenous outcomes across northern Australia. NAIF has a $7 billion allocation and has committed over $4.3 billion to support 32 projects in Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The Australian Government is seeking to place two new members to the Board of NAIF as part of Board succession planning. These are part-time roles with a term of up to three years.

Candidates must have a relevant ‘lived experience’ in northern Australia and a business background at an executive or board level. The successful candidates will have a well-developed understanding of the economic potential of northern Australia, and the unique role that concessional finance has realising this potential.

Candidates will have expertise in one or more of: banking and finance; law; Indigenous economic development; financial accounting or auditing; government funding programs or bodies; private equity or investment by way of lending; economics; infrastructure planning and financing; or engineering.

Experience in finance, risk, legal and Indigenous economic development is highly desirable. Experience in major infrastructure projects will be well regarded.

A willingness to travel throughout the region to attend board and committee meetings is essential.
