Position Overview:
Centacare is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director to provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational management to the organisation. This role is pivotal in achieving the Church’s vision of social justice in action within the Archdiocese of Brisbane. The Executive Director will balance financial and operational sustainability with a strong commitment to mission-based services.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership in Complex Environments:
- Provide overarching leadership for diverse services, balancing compliance and compassionate care.
- Engage with federal/state ministers, government bodies, and other key stakeholders, offering gravitas and a public presence to secure funding and partnerships.
- Foster collaboration across the Archdiocese and among internal teams.
Strategic Transformation:
- Lead cultural transformation initiatives to foster and promote a collaborative culture across the teams.
- Balance growth with manageable pace, ensuring strategic clarity and alignment.
- Oversee internal leadership uplift, given the relative inexperience of senior leaders (4 of 5 under three years in tenure).
Operational and Financial Oversight:
- Lead within tight financial margins, navigating a block funding model for fee-for-service programs.
- Drive operational efficiency, overcoming slow decision-making and overthinking tendencies.
- Oversee technological upgrades and transformation while maintaining a balanced focus on AI and big data.
Governance and Compliance:
- Adapt to governance changes, ensuring alignment with key personnel regulations.
- Maintain Centacare’s reputation as a reliable service provider while navigating regulatory frameworks.
Staff and Stakeholder Wellbeing:
- Prioritise staff wellbeing and address fragility within teams.
- Develop the formation aspect of employment to align staff with Centacare’s mission.
Qualifications & Profile:
Professional Expertise:
- Strong background in aged care and disability (preferred).
- Proven experience in complex transformational change across multiple sectors with highly regulated environments.
Leadership Qualities:
- Ability to inspire and uplift inexperienced senior leaders.
- Courage to make decisive yet thoughtful decisions.
- Strong public presence and gravitas for external advocacy.
Cultural Alignment:
- Understanding of Catholic values, with a commitment to serving marginalised populations.
Strategic Vision:
- Agility in defining organisational priorities and achieving strategic goals.
- Collaborative leadership style to align the team and deliver strategy.
