Korn Ferry has partnered with Emerson Health to lead the search efforts for their next Senior Director of Human Resources. This role is based onsite in Concord, MA.
Position Highlights:
- Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, the Senior Director, Human Resources for Emerson Health will lead the Human Resources function to deliver the highest quality leadership and drive Human Resources strategy for the Emerson Health, including Emerson Hospital, Emerson Practice Associates and all ambulatory sites. The Senior Director, HR (SDHR) consults with executive leadership to deliver strategic workforce plans to enhance the objectives of Emerson Health and support its growth. This role requires collaboration between the HR team, finance and operational leaders to provide innovative, creative solutions that are delivered on time and on budget. This position requires an extroverted, results-focused, forward-thinking Human Resources professional with strong change management skills, able to play an important role in leading core HR functions and strategic initiatives that support the mission and vision of Emerson Health in a lean and relatively flat organization.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Emerson Executive Leadership team and the VPHR, the SDHR develops and implements a talent strategy to support the mission and vision of Emerson Health. Develops and implements Human Capital plans to support efficient and effective operations and partners with operational leaders on change management.
- Develops and implements Human Capital plans to support the Emerson Health’s operations and growth. Advises executive leaders and HR team members on the Human Capital Strategy including how to identify trends and areas of concern across the system, as well as developing and implementing solutions.
- Leverages Emerson Health’s employer value proposition to continuously improve talent acquisition and foster retention.
- Plans, directs, supervises and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff relating to HR operations, employment, talent acquisition total rewards, compliance and engagement.
- Identifies & understands key strategic goals of the organization to ensure alignment of required HR resources and support for success. Develops and implements action plans and metrics in collaboration with other Emerson Health leaders.
- Assesses the current structure of HR and makes recommendations for how to improve effectiveness. Considers change management impact on operations and operation leaders, partnering with operational leaders for change management support.
- Partners with IS and other leaders in planned HRIS upgrade.
- Partners with operational leaders to assess and foresee needs and develop responsive and effective HR strategies.
- Ensures effective communication of critical information related to system-wide priorities to the HR team to other employees.
- Provides management oversight to designated HR team to implement and evaluate programs, plans, and initiatives that result in increased organizational effectiveness and leadership engagement.
- Leverages dashboard to measure on-going progress in key HR-related areas including key metrics identified for leaders to use workforce analytics effectively. Analyzes metrics on recruitment, employee turnover and data impacting ability to staff, and presents findings operational leaders in addition to proposing solutions to address any operational concerns.
- Leads HR team to conduct organizational and team climate assessments and develop interventions to address conflicts and gaps.
- Engages leadership in working with HR team members as strategic business partners and supports continued development of strategic capabilities for HR team members.
- Provide oversight and guidance in employee/labor relations matters, working to resolve conflict and coach supervisory & managerial staff to effectively manage performance of their teams.
- Responsibilities include the oversight of Benefits/Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Diversity and Inclusion, HR Operations and Compliance, to ensure support of continuous alignment and coordination of HR and workforce priorities and initiatives.
- Evaluates and leads improvement in staff and management onboarding programs.
- Ensures compliance with applicable state/federal regulations and all Joint Commission HR standards
- Support Emerson’s journey toward high reliability.
- Evaluates performance of HR service delivery against the needs of individual business segments. Routinely surveys managers for feedback.
- Works across Human Resources to ensure the most effective & efficient HR-related processes, systems and interactions that add value to leadership and address day-to-day operational issues and challenges.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will be an active listener, capable and comfortable with both learning Emerson’s culture and with teaching other leaders. He/She will be adaptable, outward-facing and highly communicative, capable of forging positive and productive relationships with others.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, HR, Organizational Development, or related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of increasingly responsible HR generalist experience including prior experience in an HR leadership role in a Hospital setting.
- Broad experience as human resources professional including ER/LR, talent management, recruitment and retention, compensation, benefits, HRIS and leadership development.
- PHR, SPHR or PHR certification is preferred.
