Role Summary:
• Title: Revenue Accounting Supervisor
• Department: Accounting & Finance
• Location: Durango, Colorado or Houston, TX (Travel 2 weeks of each month)
• Primary Focus: Lead all revenue accounting functions, including distribution, reporting, compliance, and team oversight, while supporting the Controller and broader finance organization
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all revenue accounting activities including distribution of operated and non-operated revenue
• Manage and supervise a team of 3 revenue accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight
• Handle monthly revenue processes including input of non-operated revenue received from partners
• Support monthly close activities including accruals, reconciliations, and prior period adjustments
• Reconcile daily cash balances, manage deposits, and support treasury-related activities
• Calculate and manage royalty and tax obligations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
• Maintain and review balance sheet reconciliations and general accounting activities
• Respond to inquiries from interest owners and support stakeholder communication
• Ensure compliance with ONRR reporting, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
• Partner closely with Controller, Assistant Controller, and broader accounting team to support reporting and process improvements
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 10+ years of direct oil & gas revenue accounting experience (operated and/or non-operated wells)
• Strong understanding of revenue distribution, ONRR reporting, royalties, and regulatory compliance
• Prior supervisory experience managing and developing accounting staff
• Experience with oil & gas accounting systems such as Enertia, OGsys, or similar
• Strong Excel skills and ability to manage large datasets
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to operate in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while also working independently
Compensation & Benefits:
• Target base compensation range: $125K–$140K
• Annual discretionary bonus based on performance review (historically paid each year)
• High performer bonuses typically range 25%–30%
• Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) for high performers with stacked long-term incentive payouts
• 4% 401(k) match plus discretionary 6% profit sharing contribution
