The City of Gold Coast is Australia’s sixth-largest city, home to over 635,000 people. It is known for its vibrant lifestyle and diversity, beautiful natural environment, and a thriving arts and culture scene. The second largest local government in Australia (based on population), the Council of City of Gold Coast oversees the growth and development of services and infrastructure for its community. 

Due to the accelerated growth of the City, the Council and City Administration have established an external investment entity to capitalise on the unique opportunities being afforded to the Gold Coast region. Invest Gold Coast will optimise the way that strategic opportunities are identified, assessed and recommended to Council. It will promote investment across manufacturing, technology, health, and marine, among other industries. Invest Gold Coast will have no funds under management; it exists primarily to make investment recommendations to Council. 

Council is now seeking to appoint its inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Invest Gold Coast. The CEO will be required to oversee high profile investment projects on behalf of the city reporting to the Board and ultimately the Council.

The CEO will have strong executive presence, with gravitas to play a key representative role for Invest Gold Coast in the marketplace. The CEO will be a strong people leader, have high emotional intelligence, and the capacity to engage with and influence a diverse range of stakeholder groups. The CEO will be a values-based leader who has strength of character, emotional maturity, and cultural awareness. Additionally, they will have strong advocacy skills and the commercial rigour to lead and guide decision-making.

Candidates will bring significant, senior-level commercial and investment management experience gained in the private sector. They will have strong knowledge of economic development and investment market participants, including opportunities in Australian and offshore markets, and a proven ability to successfully negotiate deals with commercial partners. With a track record in delivering strong commercial outcomes, the CEO will develop and execute the strategy to achieve investment goals, while leading a positive and action-oriented culture.
