Background:

LA28 is the non-profit, private organization responsible for delivering the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities. With Olympic opening day ceremonies scheduled for July 14, 2028, and Paralympic opening day ceremonies scheduled for August 15, 2028, Los Angeles will bring together:

• 15,000 athletes from around the world
• 4,000 employees
• 75,000 volunteers
• 100,000 contractors
With sustainability and fiscal responsibility as core principles, the games will be hosted across existing venues, taking advantage of a region with multiple athletic and hospitality assets.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Position Summary
Reporting to the CFO, the SVP, Controller manages all aspects of the organization’s financial reporting and accounting operations,
which include the accounting and controls throughout the Record to Report, Procure to Pay and Contract to Cash processes. Additionally, the SVP, Controller will be responsible for treasury functions, tax planning and compliance, payroll, financial audits, and internal controls for this rapidly scaling organization.

Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) applicable to
both nonprofit and for-profit entities, and exhibit solid communication, technology, analytical and management
skills. Experience in designing, implementing, and operating business processes relevant to the department’s
scope of work is essential.

Key Responsibilities
Specifically, position responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
▪ Plan and define the scope of accounting operations over the project lifecycle.
▪ Build, manage and develop a high performing accounting team to deliver on accounting requirements that
will evolve over the full lifecycle of the organization.
▪ Manage the day-to-day accounting functions to optimize the performance and output of the accounting team.
▪ Manage the accumulation and consolidation necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business
results.
▪ Analyze business contracts and implement accounting treatment and reporting requirements in accordance
with GAAP and internal policy.
▪ Coordinate and prepare timely internal and external financial statements and reporting packages.
▪ Analyze financial statements including but not limited to variance analysis, profit margin analysis and substantiation of balance sheet accounts.
▪ Manage and coordinate financial audits.
▪ Research technical accounting issues, documenting the accounting guidance and conclusions reached.
▪ Oversee banking and cash processes.
▪ Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and identify improvements as needed.
▪ Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
▪ Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to integrate new business requirements and strengthen internal controls.
▪ Oversee and partner with the procurement operations and strategic sourcing managed service provider, including serving as the liaison between service provider and department leads.
▪ Work with the Financial Planning team to bridge accounting and planning data, facilitate financial analysis and partner on ad hoc initiatives.
▪ Integrate LA28's Impact goals across accounting policies, processes, and deliverables.
▪ Develop and build relationships with key leaders across the organization with an eye toward truly understanding the business and solving issues as a business partner to operational leadership.
▪ Ensure the effectiveness and adequacy of policies, procedures, and controls for the company and creating new and improved mechanisms, policies, and procedures when necessary.
▪ Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects as needed.
