Inland Rail is now calling for a dynamic and experienced General Counsel to lead the establishment of the Inland Rail subsidiary and provide strategic direction and governance across all facets of program delivery and support. Reporting to the Chief Executive as a key member of the Inland Rail leadership team, the position supports the Board, Chief Executive and Senior Managers to achieve Inland Rail’s objectives through strategic advice and management of legal risks. The position is accountable for a team of specialist legal practitioners responsible for regulatory frameworks, integrity functions, contracts, dispute resolution, land transactions, compliance, and governance.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in providing strategic direction and leadership in a complex and dynamic work environment. They will have extensive experience in a similar General Counsel position, preferably within a Government Business Entity or subsidiary, with a focus on contract, commercial and construction across both project development and delivery phases. This individual will also have strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
