WoodBridge Healthcare is conducting a national search for two key positions: Chief Executive Officer, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and Chief Executive Officer, Scranton Health System.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for each location will serve as a champion for the hospital and be responsible for the delivery of the highest quality healthcare, strategic leadership, and fiscal health. They will serve as a high-level partner to the President and Board leadership to continue to achieve growth strategy for the region and patient experience and strategic goals. Each CEO will provide visionary leadership to build and maintain an environment which attracts and retains employees committed to continuous quality improvement, innovation, and creative problem solving.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities, duties, and critical tasks for each of the Chief Executive Officer roles include, but are not limited to, the following:
Participate in a lead role in the recruitment of key leadership positions to the hospital and physicians to the medical staff of the hospital.
Develop a plan to establish a culture of clinical service and operational excellence, one that ensures successful financial performance.
Coordinate the development of effective and efficient workflow and patient flow processes for all hospital departments.
Direct the development of financial budgets and projections for the facility in order to appropriately support annual operating targets.
Communicate and reinforce a vision for the hospital that is consistent with the system’s mission and emphasize distinguished quality, customer service, safety, operational excellence, innovation, and financial performance.
Build a strong and effective working relationship with the clinical medical staff and community staff.
Participate in a lead role in various community organizations and activities.
Continually evaluate the competitive market and specifically the efforts of competing hospitals.
Develop effective working relationships with and between WoodBridge Healthcare senior management, physician leadership, and physicians and community.
Work with hospital nursing and quality departments to ensure appropriate implementation of quality processes and procedures.
Collaborate with hospital planning and marketing departments to ensure service area projections and specific marketing campaign efforts drive growth for the hospital.
Develop and align a business plan for the hospital which includes the development of services/ programs, facilities, operating efficiencies, and physician resources designed to achieve annual and long-term growth strategies.
Drive and sustain excellence across all key metrics, including but not limited to inpatient and ambulatory operations, patient experience, employee engagement, physician satisfaction, financial performance, and quality and safety scores.
Lead hospital operations staff in the monitoring and evaluation of service lines and make necessary changes to improve quality, service, and financial performance.
Effectively build teams of competent employees whose performance achieves planned results.
Effectively recruit, select, and train personnel and assign work in an orderly, organized, and efficient manner. Monitor results closely, with a constant emphasis on incremental improvement.
Evaluate managers, maintaining a lean organizational structure and emphasize, simultaneously, customer satisfaction and financial performance.
Participate in the development of an ongoing facilities capital improvement program.
Communicate openly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure community needs are being met and the reputation of the hospital is enhanced.
Collaborate with community leaders and hospital, physician, and facility team members to design new programs, equipment, and services.
Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and accrediting agency regulations and directives and initiates corrective action.
Report to the President and the Board on the operational performance of the hospital and the implementation of plans to achieve short- and long-range objectives.
