THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is a key executive leader responsible for influencing the future of Main Line Health. This position provides key support to the CEO in the development and execution of enterprise strategy. The CSO will then execute a robust strategic planning process to support future growth, while also designing innovative, market-driving strategies that ensure a sustainable and distinctive path forward—expanding Main Line Health’s strong dominance across the region.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team and a trusted thought partner to the new Chief Executive Officer, the CSO plays a critical role in driving strategic growth and aligning enterprise capabilities. This includes advancing nationally recognized clinical programs, deepening the organization’s commitment to community health, and broadening access to affordable, life-changing care.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The CSO will report to the President & Chief Executive Officer, Main Line Health.  The following roles report to the CSO: Vice President, Strategy, Business Development & Digital; Associate Vice President, Marketing; Associate Vice President, Physician Relations & Network Development; System Director, Communications; System Director, Legislative Affairs; System Director, Consumer Experience & Market Insights; and a Senior Executive Assistant.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The CSO serves as a key member of the executive team supporting the strategic vision of Main Line Health. This dynamic leader will work in partnership with the CEO to develop enterprise-wide strategies that support the organization’s mission, accelerate growth, and strengthen market position. The CSO provides integrated oversight across multiple strategic disciplines including business development and planning, brand management and marketing, referral and network development, internal and external communications, government affairs, and customer relationship management.

THE CANDIDATE

The Chief Strategy Officer must possess a combination of education, experience, and leadership qualifications to successfully manage the responsibilities required for this position. The ideal candidate will have the following professional qualifications required for the role:

Background and Experiences

  • Minimum of seven to ten years of experience in a senior management business planning and marketing role within a complex hospital system, healthcare-related organization, or related business.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in healthcare financial analysis and economics. Strong track record of leading business development activities and initiatives, including M&A, partnerships, and joint ventures.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic marketing plans for complex, multi-site organizations, balancing the needs of the system as well as each entity.
  • Possesses broad-based knowledge of marketing and corporate communication trends, tools, and techniques including social and digital media.
  • Demonstrated capability in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders, both within and outside the organization.
  • Experienced and comfortable serving as an advisor to senior management on business development issues.
  • Effective communicator, capable of gaining the confidence and respect of senior leaders, the board, and key stakeholders including physicians.
  • Demonstrated capability in building, mentoring, and coaching a high-functioning team.
  • Must possess the ability to make thoughtful decisions in a rapidly changing environment and under pressure.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of the critical issues in the broader healthcare industry.
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate on both a strategic and tactical level.
  • Ability to work successfully in a highly complex organization with matrix reporting relationships.

 Education

  • A Master’s degree in marketing, communications, or related business field is required.
