The Carilion Clinic invites applications and nominations for the inaugural Senior Vice President and Institute Director, Cardiovascular Institute.

This physician executive will advance a cohesive, enterprise-wide strategy around comprehensive cardiovascular care through the growth of clinical services, research, education and finances. The Institute Director – in collaboration with their Dyad Partner, Department Chairs and other Carilion Clinic leaders – will be responsible for all clinical, programmatic and financial components of adult cardiovascular services across the enterprise (cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery). This leader, reporting to the Chief Physician Executive of Carilion Clinic, will aim to further the multiple missions – including quality, patient experience, access, coordinated services across the system, cross-departmental relationships, strategic planning, physician and employee engagement and retention, research, education, and local and national programmatic reputation. The ideal candidate will be a visible, transparent, and collaborative physician with a reputation as an outstanding clinician and communicator and demonstrated accomplishments working in complex, matrixed academic environments.

The Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute is comprised of 150+ providers and 700+ employees delivering care across 31 locations. Carilion is the busiest and most experienced center for cardiovascular care in the region and across the state of Virginia. In 2025, the 500,000 square foot Crystal Spring Tower will open as the new home to the Cardiovascular Institute, featuring 76 cardiovascular-dedicated inpatient beds, state-of-the-art operative and procedural areas and clinical / non-invasive services. This new facility further underscores Carilion Clinic’s commitment to world-class cardiovascular care for the region.
