Morgan’s is more than a 501c (3) nonprofit organization in San Antonio, Texas – it’s a movement of inclusion. With more than 150 million dollars in assets, over 150 acres of property and facilities, 500 employees, and an annual reach to about 250,000 customers Morgan’s serves as the parent company that oversees and supports various full-inclusive and Ultra-Accessible™ initiatives. The enterprise includes a theme park, water park, sports complex, camp, multi-assistance center, daycare, fitness center, hotel, café, salon, production studio, surgery center, dental clinic, and so much more.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 1 billion people or about 15% of the world’s population, live with some form of disability. Disability affects 1 in 4 (28.7%) adults in the United States. Widespread assumptions about those living with disabilities limit their ability to participate in our community. There is a growing demand for best practices and support to create inclusive environments for all. Morgan’s is uniquely positioned to build upon an impressive record of success in furthering inclusion and accessibility by providing a showcase of demonstration projects, sharing valuable insights and best practices, and welcoming others who are eager to learn and implement tools Morgan’s has developed over the years.
At any Morgan’s initiative, you will see individuals of all ages and abilities coming together for common needs and services but also achieving a better understanding of one another. At their core, the organization believes that everyone deserves the right to enjoy and experience life, regardless of cognitive or physical ability. By removing barriers, creating access, and nurturing an environment of inclusion and belonging, Morgan’s can bring together people in a manner that increases understanding and empathy; combats stigma and discrimination; supports the creation of more inclusive spaces; advocates for social responsibility; enhances innovation; and fosters collaboration.
With the launch of Morgan’s Inclusion Institute, the organization is extending their mission beyond their Ultra-Accessible™ entities to inspire and equip others to foster inclusivity on a global scale. The Institute is designed to share valuable insights and best practices with businesses, organizations, nonprofits, government entities, and individuals looking to integrate inclusion and accessibility into their “business as usual” agenda. Key offerings of Morgan’s Inclusion Institute include disability inclusion training, resources to help organizations create welcoming environments for everyone, customized plans, project consultations and inclusion assessments, and Ultra-Accessible™ certifications. Their longstanding core values will inform new efforts to:
- Empower inclusion advocates and build a curiosity movement for change.
- Educate the masses through tours, presentations, training, consultation, and recognition.
- Innovate solutions by demonstrating proven examples of adaptation and creativity.
- Include others in a collaborative effort to convene like-minded partners and facilitate conversation around this critical matter of inclusion.
The Institute’s curriculum, which will be delivered through interactive programming, and can-do plans will inspire new ways of thinking about inclusion. The Institute will connect Morgan’s experts with learners who can implement real-world applications of inclusion and kindness. The “Morgan’s Way” will set a new standard of excellence for implementing real-world applications and sparing cultural change for a more inclusive world.
