Korn Ferry Military Division has partnered with our client on their search for a Field Service Engineer. As a growing leader in operation for over 100 years, they offer engineering and manufacturing expertise and custom solutions to pressing power challenges.

This field office is located approximately 35 miles South of downtown Atlanta, up to 60% local travel required (at times on short notice.)

Substation experience is highly preferred (prior construction, maintenance or test man roles.)


Compensation: $76,000-110,000 base salary (+ $2-3K relocation assistance available)

Travel: 40–60%

What You Will Do:
Perform duties associated with installing, adjusting, and complex electrical/mechanical troubleshooting high-voltage switches and switching devices in electric utility substations (disconnect switches, circuit switchers, load break switches, capacitor switches, circuit breakers, transformers, mobile trailers, ballistic walls, and other products.) Provide technical support to Field Service Technicians.

  • Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.
  • Instruct on the installation and adjustment of the equipment, as well as present a technical presentation on the equipment’s design.
  • Repair or adjust equipment, machines, or defective components, replacing worn parts, such as gaskets or seals in watertight electrical equipment.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment to test for defective wiring and connections, micrometers to check for excessive wear on parts, and oscilloscopes/analyzers to troubleshoot, align, adjust, and calibrate circuits.
  • Maintain equipment logs (record performance problems, repairs, calibrations or tests.)
  • Inspect industrial equipment components for accurate assembly and installation or defects.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks (checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.)
  • Calibrate testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems.
  • Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
  • Operate equipment to demonstrate proper use or to analyze malfunctions.

Education and Work Experience:

  • at least 4 years of US Military experience required (preferably Nuke EM / Prime Power background)
  • 1-5 years experience working with high and low-voltage equipment
  • Ability to travel (40-60%) on short notice.
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude; knowledge of electrical theory, understanding of troubleshooting reasoning.
