The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is a university-based regional health care system focused on serving the health care needs of Maryland. THE POSITION
Reporting to the President & CEO of UMMS, the EVP, Community Health Division is a key leader responsible for overseeing and driving the operational performance of multiple member organizations within the healthcare system. The EVP will serve as a key member of the clinical delivery leadership quad and work alongside the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) and partner closely with the EVP of the Academic Division.
Specifically, the EVP of the Community Health Division and the EVP of the Academic Division will collaborate closely to expand the academic medicine strategy across UMMS. By aligning their efforts, they can ensure that academic programs, clinical services, and operational functions are integrated seamlessly and tailored to the local site of care and clinical needs. Their combined leadership will also facilitate the growth of education, research, and clinical missions in alignment with the system's strategy.
Key priorities for the EVP of the Community Health Division include advancing UMMS’ mission and vision through transformative change, operational integration, and alignment with the organization’s strategic priorities and goals. Initially, the EVP will ensure current initiatives underway will be completed successfully, while engaging in the activities that will define new initiatives to achieve the agreed upon goals and areas of emphasis in UMMS’ strategic framework. As such, the EVP plays a key role in UMMS journey to becoming a high reliability organization (HRO). In addition, they will be an advocate for system wide integration and will work to leverage the system’s size and scale to increase system effectiveness. Their role will be to drive results in furtherance of that integration, even when system wide objectives may require prioritizing over a member organization’s specific interests.
The EVP will also be responsible for driving operational performance, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring financial sustainability across UMMS. In addition, the EVP will engage with the boards of directors at each of the member organizations in the community health division, maintaining a strong presence and relationship with them to ensure alignment with the system's broader mission, vision, and goals.

EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for the EVP, Community Health Division role will possess the following experience, leadership, and background competencies:
• Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in a healthcare system, member organization administration, or related complex healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated success in leading a hospital division, health system function, or geography at scale with some degree of complexity (e.g., multiple BUs, distribution channels, matrixed structures, shared services).
• Proficient in driving financial outcomes (e.g., cost, margins, productivity,) and communicating them to key stakeholders (e.g., board, leadership team, external constituents).
• Demonstrated success leading critical enterprise-wide initiatives that involved mobilizing people and resources across the organization.
• Experience and track record of attracting and building strong and diverse leadership teams, aligning large groups of people, and creating a highly engaged culture.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving significant organizational change or business transformation (e.g., in strategy, operations, process, culture) that achieved positive results.
• Experience with key external stakeholders, such as regulatory bodies, suppliers, government agencies, industry groups, etc. to advance organizational priorities.
• Background working with boards and board committees, and/or serving on an outside board.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
• MHA, MBA or advanced degree in related field is required.
• Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives preferred.

COMPENSATION
Salary of $600,000-$800,000 plus Executive Benefits.
