The President of Tufts Medical Center is responsible for the strategic guidance and operational leadership of all departments, services and teams at the health system’s academic flagship hospital. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Tufts Medicine, this leader will help design and achieve the hospital’s regional strategy, including growth plans, programmatic offerings, systemwide initiatives, and academic and research endeavors to remain a destination for care in New England and beyond. The President of Tufts Medical Center is accountable for all day-to-day operations, including medical affairs, nursing and patient care, ancillary and support services and site-based clinics. This individual will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality outcome-based patient care in a cost-effective manner, ensuring patient satisfaction and physician satisfaction, maximizing revenue generation, and a safe and rewarding working environment for all staff. This leader will provide the vision to build and maintain an environment which attracts and retains employees committed to continuous quality improvement, innovation and creative problem solving. The President will work closely with the COO and CEO of Tufts Medicine, the President of Tufts Medical Center Physician Organization, and the Chief Academic Officer for Tufts Medicine, and represent Tufts in various community, public and governmental forums.
The successful candidate will have a history of success in matrixed academic healthcare systems. This leader will be expected to assess the organization’s readiness for change, challenge past assumptions, adjust strategies and goals, and encourage new approaches and perspectives. They will bring a robust, data-driven approach to their analysis and an emphasis on collaboration, partnership and engagement across all members of the Tufts Medical Center team. They will continually seek new opportunities with a “systems of care” view, maintaining a comprehensive and long-range perspective.
