Chief Mission Officer

In this pivotal role, you will champion the quality, reach, and innovation of services delivered by over 150 Goodwill member organizations—unlocking economic mobility and career pathways in communities nationwide. As a dynamic and forward-thinking partner to the GII CEO, you will lead the charge in designing and scaling next-generation, partner-driven tools and solutions that deliver tangible, measurable outcomes for individuals and families across the country.

Goodwill Industries International (GII) provides extensive support to its members through network-wide intelligence and competitive data; service delivery models, consulting services and best practices; technology and innovative partnerships; marketing campaigns and expertise; as well as funding and in-kind support from major partners. GII also represents the network nationally, in the media and through government advocacy.

The Chief Mission Officer will be a strong partner to the CEO. This role will dramatically accelerate GII’s mission and leverage the organization’s unique positioning to scale powerful impact.

Key professional experiences include:

  • Major leadership roles in either a nonprofit, social enterprise, or for-profit corporation demonstrating the ability to innovate, lead change, drive quantifiable outcomes, and manage teams. If a traditional corporate background, should preferably sit on a nonprofit board, understanding workforce issues or obstacles to economic mobility created by poverty, addiction, incarceration, and disability.
  • Stakeholder management, product design/development and launch, with a demonstrated track record of focus on customer/user experience.
  • A history of engaging and developing partners—financial, in-kind, service, etc.

Among critical core competencies:

  • Understanding of the workforce development ecosystem and the Goodwill mission, business model and major business lines.
  • Ability to see the big picture of complex department work, lead with vision, and ensure alignment and collaboration across diverse efforts.
  • Experience with federal and corporate grants, with a product innovation and business services mindset and understanding the current challenges of federal funding and viable options that may be available.

A competitive compensation package will be offered to the selected candidate. The base salary range for this role is 230-275k. The ultimate salary will be dependent on several factors, including previous work experience, qualifications, and skill set.
